Get to know your personal trainer…

  • How did you get started in the business of fitness/wellness?
  • I have been interested in sport, fitness and health right from my days at school. I always new I wanted to work in this industry and when I finished at University I just jumped straight in.

  • What do you love about your job?
  • There are many, many things I love about my job, but I suppose top of the list would be seeing the happiness in my client's faces when they achieve something that they have never done before.

  • What's been the most rewarding moment of your career?
  • Over a year ago a client of mine had an appointment with a heart specialist. This appointment ended with the specialist declaring that if my client did not change is current lifestyle he would need heart surgery in as little as a few weeks. Since this time my client and I have worked really hard on improving a number of different areas of his health and lifestyle. All this hard work has really paid of as he has not only avoided heart surgery but in his last appointment with his specialist he has been told not to come back as he is no longer at risk. Knowing that all the work we did together has made such a difference to his life means so much to me.

  • When you were little, what did you want to be?
  • I wanted to be a professional badminton player until my body let me down and injury forced me to stop.

  • How would you describe yourself?
  • Passionate, bubbly and energetic.

  • Favourite food / drink
  • My favourite dish is a chorizo and butterbean stew that my boyfriend cooks. It's just simply the yummiest thing in the world. As regards to drink I'm a simple person and I only drink mineral water.

  • Pet hates / what would you like to live without?
  • Rudeness (it is completely unnecessary), kids playing music through their mobile phones on public transport, and anything technical as I am completely useless at using them.

  • What makes time fly for you?
  • Learning.

  • Favourite TV programme?
  • The last thing I was hooked on was Planet Earth, but I also try and take every opportunity to watch all kinds of sport on TV.

  • What do you do to really relax?
  • If I've had a really stressful day or week I try to head out to visit my parents in the country and go for a nice long walk. I find you can't help but relax with nature around you.

  • What or who makes you happiest in your life right now?
  • My family. They are the most important people in my life, I would be lost without all of them!

  • What do you most want to achieve during your lifetime?
  • Happiness. That is being happy myself and making others around me happy as well.

  • What pearls of wisdom can you offer to others that you hope will make a difference?
  • It's the little changes that make the difference. Small steps that you can easily follow are always more successful than large unobtainable leaps.
